Fix It

Well, the higher ups at school have decided to pay for the math department to have a half-day of substitutes so we can fix our 9th grade failure rate. Since this is such a simple task, we should be able to add world peace, homelessness, Iraq, abuse, and cancer to the list. Expect results by 1 PM.

I'm gonna need some caffeine.

It's good to know that our school isn't the only one that thinks they can develop a "magic pill" to solve problems that have been brewing for years.

Our math teachers complain that our middle school kids can't do multiplication. Didn't we learn that in like 3rd grade?

It's true!!!! I ask my kids to multiple something basic and they have to use their fingers to think of groupings of numbers. UGH. We memorized them in 3rd grade!!!

Yes, Third grade, it was mandatory, we had to have those tables memorized. Don't they memorize multiplication tables anymore? I can still remember a comment on my report card that my third grade teacher made that said "Linda, memorize those tables!" I'm not as good with addition or subtraction, but because of Mrs. Wagner in third grade, I can still recite my tables!!!!
